Connecting future skills in telecommunications

The global telecommunications company partnered with Simply to compare their priority digital and agile skills to their industry peers and global leaders. Their future skills activity formed part of a progressive plan to transform the company.

Simply’s Rightskilling Platform joined together millions of labour market data points and HR data on 100,000 employees to build a baseline of current capability and skills. This baseline was used to assess their capability levels against industry peers and global leaders in their targeted capability growth areas of digital and agile skills.

The insight from Simply’s Rightskilling Platform was used by the company Leadership Team to adjust the mix of workforce and skills required to deliver their strategy, for example reducing the number of highly specialised roles they were recruiting compared to their peers, and instead targeting more adaptable skills required to deliver their business strategy.

Subsequently, they chose to invest in a new Digital business unit of several hundred roles to build targeted skills in Data Science, Product Management and key Sales roles and spun up large scale re-deployment programme into Cyber-Security.
